Working conditions and impact of AI & digitalisation in social services

EPR recently participated in the IWorCon Final Conference, held on 6 February, at the Belgian National Labour Council in Brussels. This one day event was aimed at presenting the IWorCon initiative, funded by the EU and coordinated by the intersectoral confederation of employers in the social profit sector (non-profit) in Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (UNIPSO).

IWorCon aims to improve the working conditions in the social services sector, reinforce its attractiveness and further build the capacity of employers’ organisations.

The conference brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for innovation and improvement in the sector and explore ways to leverage technology for efficiency and service enhancement. Topics included risk prevention, mental and physical wellbeing at work, and AI-driven workforce planning, with presentations from key sector representatives such as Sylvain Renouvel (Nexem), Alice Demaret (FARI), Seb Barker(Magic Notes, UK) and Timo Heiskala (Autism Foundation Finland). The working groups in the afternoon provided concrete takeaways on reducing administrative burdens, improving staff well-being, and upskilling the workforce for a digital future.
