Worker’s AI Skills: Cedefop Survey Findings

The initial findings of the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills survey, conducted by Cedefop in spring 2024, were presented on Monday 24 June at the 16th Cedefop Brussels Seminar organised in cooperation with the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 5342 employees from Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain were asked a series of questions to gain insights into AI skill demands in European labour markets, the extent to which European companies adopt labour-friendly management practices and how AI-ready the skills of European workers are. What emerges is the clear need for upskilling and reskilling of adult workers in European job markets, to cope with technological advances and the digital transformation of their jobs. These were some of the issues at the core of the discussions that took place at EPR’s recent Annual Conference AI and New Technologies for Inclusion: Leaving no one behind in the digital transition” in Malaga on 18-19 of June. Our members continue to engage with this important topic, as the technological revolution pushes services to reinvision modes of service delivery and presents exciting opportunities to meet people’s diverse needs at all stages of life through the deployment of innovative new tools.
