La Hulpe Declaration Signed

On 16 April, the La Hulpe Declaration on the Future of the European Pillar of Social Rights was signed by the EU institutions, social partners, and civil society. The declaration sets out the framework for the EU’s work on social issues for the next five years, to meet the ambitious 2030 targets. EPR is particularly thrilled to see the renewed attention to Social Protection and Inclusion, and in particular Art.31 on the importance of investing in high-quality services, as well as Art.34 on promoting the rights of persons with disabilities. It is important to note that Sweden and Austria did not sign this declaration. Now more than ever it is crucial that the ‘Union of Equality’ becomes a reality, and EPR will continue to ensure this occurs.
