ILO and the Commission partnered up against social injustice in employment

“Building Partnerships on the Future of Work” is the name of the three-year-long research project led by the Commission, in collaboration with ILO, which should fill in the existing gaps between employment policies and social justice. The project resulted from the agreement reached at the beginning of May between the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission and ILO’s Employment Policy, Job Creation and Livelihoods Department over deepening research and policy developments concerning employment, labour rights and social justice. At the EPSCO meeting, ILO confirmed that the main issue is that half of the labour force performs tasks not corresponding to its education level, leading in the future to higher unemployment rates and skills mismatch in Europe and Central Asia. The meeting has highlighted the need to re-examine major trends and investments in the labour market, which is becoming more exclusive and unequal.
