Porto Social Summit, 2021

EPR welcomes that all European partners participating in the Porto Social Summit that took place on the 7th and 8th of May have committed to build a more inclusive and social Europe by transforming the European Pillar of Social Rights principles into action.

The European partners have focused on jobs, skills, fighting poverty and reducing social exclusion, and they have signed up to the three 2030 headline targets:

  • 78% of the population aged between 20 to 64 should be in employment by 2030
  • At least 60% of all adults should participate in training every year
  • People at risk of poverty or social exclusion should be reduced by at least 15 million by 2030 at least.

This commitment was taken at the first day of the Social Summit in Porto by the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Parliament, the Portuguese Prime Minister currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European social partners and civil society organisations.
